Lloyd Sessions

Induction Year: 1987

Lloyd Sessions (1906–1997) was a pivotal figure in Texas tennis, renowned for his leadership and dedication to the sport's development at both local and national levels. As the founding president of the Corpus Christi Tennis Association (CCTA), he played a crucial role in establishing the Corpus Christi HEB Tennis Center in 1960, collaborating with philanthropist Howard E. Butt Sr.

Sessions was a driving force behind the CCTA Junior Development program, fostering young talent and promoting tennis education. His commitment to youth tennis is commemorated through the Lloyd Sessions Educational Merit Award, established in 1973 by USTA Texas, which honors tennis professionals dedicated to the growth and education of junior players in Texas.

Beyond Corpus Christi, Sessions significantly contributed to the USTA Texas and the United States Tennis Association (USTA), serving on numerous committees. He held leadership positions in the National Tennis Educational Foundation, including director, vice president, and president.
