Texas Tennis Hall of Fame 2016 inductee Margaret Canby has been selected to captain the United States Women's 85+ team at the 2020 ITF Super Senior Team Tennis World Championships. The event will be held in Mallorca, Spain in October.
The eighty-seven year old San Antonio native has had a remarkable tennis career. Over her lifetime, she has won over 40 tennis championships on clay, grass, hard court and indoor.
Canby's tennis career has taken her around the world and she has captained the women's 80 and over team in the Doris Hart Cup. In 2012-2015 Canby captained the Texas 80 Women's Intersectional Teams which won the national championship all four of those years. In 2019, she and her teammates won the Inaugural Women’s 85 Cup in Croatia.
Fellow 2016 Texas Tennis Hall of Fame member, Julie Cass, will play for the United States Women's 45 team at the the 2020 ITF Young-Seniors World Championships. That event is schedule to take place in September in Umag, Croatia.
