The Texas Tennis Museum and Hall of Fame hosted its highly anticipated 2024 Annual Banquet last night at the Texas Sports Hall of Fame in Waco to honor the enduring legacy and impact of Texas tennis. This year's theme, "Game Changers: The Heroes of Texas Tennis," paid tribute to the extraordinary individuals who have elevated the sport through their passion, skill, and dedication.
Attendees were treated to a special tribute to Hall of Famer Russell Seymour, whose presence lit up the evening with memories and reflections on his journey. Kevin Collins of USTA Texas served as the guest speaker, sharing inspiring words that resonated with all present, emphasizing the transformative power of tennis and its role in shaping communities and lives.
The highlight of the evening was the induction of the esteemed 2024 Hall of Fame Class: Sheryl Behne, Kevin Foster, Bobby Hagerman, and Perry Widener. Each inductee was recognized for their exceptional contributions to Texas tennis, cementing their place in history and inspiring future generations.
The evening began with a warm welcome and hotel check-in from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., followed by self-guided tours of the Texas Sports Hall of Fame, where guests had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the rich history of Texas sports. The cocktail reception from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. allowed attendees to connect, share stories, and celebrate their shared passion for tennis.
