Emilie Burrer Foster

Emilie Burrer Foster (born 1947) began playing tennis in high school, winning the state championship. While playing at Trinity University, she won the women’s singles and doubles championships. After graduation she ranked as the 13th player in the nation in singles and 4th in doubles, reaching the quarterfinals of the 1969 U.S. Open in doubles. Foster coached at Texas Tech University for eight years, taking the team from club to varsity status. Returning to Trinity University in 1978, Foster won ITA coach of the year and the USTA Education Merit Award in 1983.
